For Massachusetts commercial openings, we install, repair and service Cookson doors. A warehouse closure, a counter shutter and a storefront grille call for different measurements and service plans. Start with the actual assembly and its paperwork rather than choosing a replacement from a photograph of another building.
Cookson's ESD10 service door uses a curtain of formed galvanized steel, stainless steel or aluminum slats. The curtain coils above the opening. The product page lists motor, chain, hand-crank and push-up operation, with the choice depending on size, weight and operating frequency. These are configuration choices rather than promises that every existing ESD10 can be converted between them.
The same page offers vision windows, perforated ScreenGard slats, guide and bottom-bar weather seals, and a hood baffle. Tell us which of those features is already present and which you would like considered for a replacement. A window requirement and a ventilation requirement should be recorded separately.
If you have an order number, model reference or installation drawing, send a readable copy. Photograph any accessible identification plate without removing the hood. Include both guides, the bottom bar and the area where the curtain enters the coil. We do not identify an ESD10 solely from the color or appearance of its slats.
Record the operator's name separately. For a powered opening, a photograph of the motor and controls helps us distinguish a door issue from an operator issue. Do not open electrical enclosures to obtain a photograph.
Describe any scraping, uneven travel, impact damage or change in stopping position. Note whether the symptom occurs while opening, closing or in both directions. Our assessment considers the curtain, guides, bottom bar and operating equipment together; a damaged component does not establish the condition of the rest of the opening.
For a door that will be replaced, tell us how the space is used, the approximate daily operating schedule and whether vehicles need clear passage while work is planned.
