Boxborough's housing is split. Detached houses are 59% of units, while buildings of five or more units hold 34% and attached houses 5% (ACS B25024). Seventy-three percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied. Almost nothing predates 1940 (1%); 45% of units are from 1940 to 1979 and 20% from 2000 or later, with a median year of 1989 (ACS B25034).
Boxborough Old Town Center is on the National Register (2006) (MHC inventory). The state inventory lists no local historic district, so Register listing alone doesn't require approval to replace a garage door.
Boxborough's Building page announces its online permitting process and notes that "a homeowner's insurance policy may not cover work performed without a proper permit or properly licensed discipline" (Boxborough Building). The state chart says a replacement door may need a permit and a new installation does (mass.gov). When a permit is required, we pull it.
With a third of units in larger buildings, many residents live in condominium communities with garages or carports. The association usually picks the door model and color. If you own the opener, we can replace it without changing the door's look.
Detached homes in town are mostly from the 1960s on, with attached two-car garages. After a few decades, rollers flatten, hinges loosen and springs lose tension. A garage door tune-up restores smooth travel.
If a door is hit or a cable breaks, it can come off its tracks. Don't run the opener. Unplug it and call for off-track repair.
Gaps at the bottom let in water and leaves. New weatherstripping seals the door.
A wall-mount opener clears the ceiling for storage racks.
Look at the springs above the door for a gap, check that both cables are on their drums, and see whether the photo-eye lights are lit. Pull the red release cord only when the door is fully closed. Tell us what you see, and we'll bring the right parts the first time.
We install Clopay, Garaga, Wayne Dalton and Amarr doors and service LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie and other openers.
