Many Carver homes are manufactured: 19% of units are mobile homes, and detached houses are 74% (ACS B25024). Eighty-nine percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied. The median unit dates to 1980. Only 5% of units predate 1940, 46% are from 1940 to 1979 and 13% from 2000 or later (ACS B25034). About 3% of units are seasonal (ACS B25004).
The MHC inventory lists two local historic districts: Lakenham (1980) and Savery (1982). The statute lets a district commission review doors and other exterior features visible from a public way (MGL c.40C §5 and §6). If your home is in either district, ask the historic commission before replacing a street-facing garage door.
Garages beside manufactured homes are usually single-car, with light-gauge steel doors. A dented section can often be replaced on its own; see panel replacement. If the model is discontinued, we quote a new lightweight door and show you both options.
Nearly half the housing is from 1940 to 1979, mostly ranches and capes. Old wood doors, extension springs without safety cables and openers without photo-eyes are the common problems.
The Carver Building Department says, "You need a building permit to build a shed, a deck, a pool or hot tub, or to finish off the basement, or to re-roof your home," and that "Inspections are typically conducted after 12:30 pm." (Carver Building Department). For garage doors, the state chart lists replacement as a maybe and a new installation as a yes (mass.gov).
If a torsion spring breaks, the door may be too heavy to lift. Leave it down and call for broken spring repair.
We install Clopay, Garaga, Wayne Dalton and Amarr doors and repair openers of all brands.
