Westborough has more apartments and condos than most towns its size. Half of all units (50%) are detached houses, 7% are 1-unit attached, 10% are in two- to four-unit buildings and 31% are in buildings of five or more (ACS B25024). Sixty-two percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied. The median unit dates to 1976; 44% were built from 1940 to 1979, 20% in 2000 or later and 13% before 1940 (ACS B25034).
With nearly a third of units in larger buildings, many Westborough garage doors belong to an association. Doors in a row usually have to match, so we work from the association's model and color, or replace a single panel after a car strike. Ask your manager who pays for the door and who pays for the opener before you book; they are often split.
The MHC inventory lists the West Main Street (1987) and Vintonville (2006) historic districts on the National Register, along with the former state hospital and Lyman School grounds. None of these is a local historic district. Older houses on and near West Main often have detached garages with short headers that need low-headroom parts.
Houses from the 1960s to 1990s make up much of the rest of town. On those, the usual calls are broken springs, worn rollers, frayed cables and openers that have lost their remote programming.
The building department says: "We encourage all to apply online for all permits, paper applications are accepted for an additional fee." (Westborough Building Department). That fee is a town charge on paper filings, not part of our price. The state chart lists door replacement as a "maybe" for a permit and new installation as a "yes" (mass.gov).
We source doors from Clopay, Garaga, Wayne Dalton and Amarr and service openers of all brands, including LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Genie.
