Revere faces the open ocean, and its garages feel it. The city is on the Massachusetts CZM list of coastal communities (CZM), and the Massachusetts Historical Commission inventory includes the Revere Beach Reservation Historic District, listed on the National Register in 1998 (MHC inventory).
According to the American Community Survey (2020-2024), Revere's median year built is 1965, with 40% of housing units built from 1940 to 1979 and 18% since 2000 (ACS B25034). Detached houses are 25% of the stock, two- to four-unit buildings 35% and buildings of five or more units 31%; just under half of homes are owner-occupied (ACS B25024).
Ocean air carries salt farther than people expect. On a steel door within reach of it, the first parts to go are the springs, the hinges and the bottom fixture holding the lift cable. A rusty spring breaks more often in a cold snap, so a winter broken spring call is common in shore towns. When we replace springs in a salty area we suggest coated or oil-tempered springs and check the cables and drums at the same time. Nylon rollers with sealed bearings outlast bare steel ones near the water.
Wind matters too. Wide doors on the exposed side of a house flex in a storm; heavier-gauge steel and struts on a replacement door help it stay in the tracks. We can source doors from Clopay, Garaga, Wayne Dalton and Amarr in the gauges and finishes that suit a coastal house.
The postwar capes and two-families typically have a single attached or detached garage. Newer condo buildings from the last two decades often have shared under-building parking with a heavy door and a commercial opener. We service and install every opener brand, including LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Genie, and belt-drive units are a good fit where an apartment sits over the garage.
MassGarage is family owned, with 15 years in garage doors.
