The Ashburnham Building / Land Use Department lists "the issuance of permits, review of plans, and field inspection of projects" among its services. Building inspections are scheduled by phone Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm (Ashburnham Building / Land Use Department). The state's home improvement chart says replacing a garage door may need a permit and a new installation does (mass.gov).
One home in seven is seasonal. Cottage garages are often small and unheated, and doors may sit closed for months. Before the season, lift the door by hand to check the balance and look for a gap in the springs. A garage door tune-up catches worn parts.
More than a quarter of homes are from the last 25 years, typically with attached two-car garages and insulated steel doors. When a torsion spring breaks, we replace both. See torsion spring repair.
Prewar homes and farmhouses often have detached garages or barns with nonstandard openings. We measure first and fit the right track.
Ice can lock the bottom seal to the floor. Free it before running the opener, and replace cracked seals in the fall. See weatherstripping.
We install Clopay, Garaga, Wayne Dalton and Amarr doors and service LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie and other openers.
