Franklin County

Heath's housing includes many mobile homes. Mobile homes are 33% of units, single-family detached houses 65% and attached houses 2% (ACS B25024). Eighty-eight percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied. About 38% of units are seasonal (ACS B25004). Twenty-two percent of units were built before 1940, 26% from 1940 to 1979 and 16% in 2000 or later; the median year is 1981 (ACS B25034).
The state inventory lists the Heath Center Historic District (2007), with a 2017 boundary increase, on the National Register (MHC inventory). No local historic district is listed.
The Building Department page says Heath is served by the Franklin County Cooperative Inspection Program, with online permitting (Heath Building Department). The state's home improvement chart says a garage door replacement may need a permit and a new installation does (mass.gov). If a permit is needed, we prepare the application.
With a third of homes being mobile homes, many garages here stand apart from the house. Detached garages need their own care:
A wall-mount opener can free ceiling space in a small detached garage.
More than a third of homes are seasonal. Before you close up, run the door, lubricate the moving parts and unplug the opener. When you return, look for nests and chewed seals.
About one home in six is from 2000 or later. Their doors are reaching the age where springs need replacing.
Free a frozen door by hand before using the opener.
We install Clopay, Garaga, Wayne Dalton and Amarr doors and service LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie and other openers.
