A spring you may not be able to see

Some Classic Steel doors use the TorqueMaster Plus counterbalance. On that system Wayne Dalton places the springs inside a steel tube to keep tension from being released by accident, and pairs it with anti-drop technology. (source: Wayne Dalton) So on those doors you may see a steel tube across the header rather than a bare coil. That layout changes how a broken spring is diagnosed and which parts fit, so we confirm the system before quoting any broken spring repair. When to repair and when to replace

• Parts missing from a new door: Wayne Dalton's own instruction is to go back to the place of purchase. (source: Wayne Dalton)
• Noisy, drafty or flimsy-feeling door: Wayne Dalton says its foamed-in-place insulation adds strength and cuts noise as well as holding temperature. (source: Wayne Dalton) An older uninsulated door that rattles is a fair candidate for replacement rather than more hardware.
• Dented section: a single section can sometimes be swapped; see panel replacement. If the model is no longer made, we will tell you plainly.
