Hörmann's North American door range includes residential sectional doors and commercial overhead sectional products. At MassGarage, we install, repair and service Hörmann doors across Massachusetts. The useful starting point is the exact construction and model, especially when an existing opening needs a section or hardware assessment.
Hörmann documents several different constructions at its Sparta operation. Pro Tech 2500 is a steel pan door with optional polystyrene insulation. Therma Tech 3400 and Therma Style 5500 use polystyrene insulated sandwich construction. Clima Tech 4400 and Clima Elite 5800 use polyurethane insulated steel construction. These are separate models, so a description such as “insulated Hörmann door” does not establish the panel specification.
If you are planning garage door installation, explain whether the garage is attached, how you use the space and the appearance you want. Bring pictures of the house and the current opening, including windows. We can narrow the discussion to a construction and panel arrangement before checking the measurements on site.
The commercial range groups doors into urethane, sandwich, pan and full-view designs. Hörmann describes options including its Galaxy Paint System, along with FingerGuard section joints on selected commercial products. This variety matters when a shop owner needs a replacement: visibility through an opening, panel construction and the surrounding building all belong in the same discussion.
For a commercial opening, note its width and height, how vehicles approach it and the approximate number of daily movements. We assess section damage, track travel, rollers, seals and balance as service topics. A damaged section should be evaluated against the installed model before deciding whether a section replacement is practical.
Hörmann's US commercial operator catalogue identifies LiftMaster products, including trolley, hoist and jackshaft models. We therefore check the operator's own manufacturer and model instead of assuming a Hörmann door has a Hörmann-branded motor. Photograph any readable labels and keep an original order, drawing or product brochure if you have one. We do not identify a precise model from a panel pattern alone. Describe the symptom in ordinary terms: scraping at one side, a visible dent, a gap at the floor or a door that stops during movement.
